وَذَكَّرتُهُ بِاللَهِ بَيني وَبَينَهُ

وَذَكَّرتُهُ بِاللَهِ بَيني وَبَينَهُ

وَما بَينَنا مِن مُدَّةٍ لَو تَذَكَّرا

وَما بَينَنا مِن مُدَّةٍ لَو تَذَكَّرا

And I reminded him of God between me and him,

I reminded him of God between us

and of the time we had shared, if only he would remember;

Though we have not dwelt long together, if we but remembered

وَبِالمَروَةِ البَيضاءِ يَومَ تَبالَةٍ

وَمَحبَسَةِ النُعمانِ حَيثُ تَنَصَّرا

By the white shining Marwa on the day of Tabalah

and of al-Nuʿmān’s hermitage, where he embraced Christianity.
