Sol 6.1

  1. نالني بالسوء من أعرفه

    أَنه بالسوءِ فاشٍ خبرُه

    One I know has spoken ill of me—

    His reputation for wickedness is widespread.

  2. يا دميماً شُوِّهَت خلقتُه

    فغدا يجرح عيني منظره

    O ugly man, whose form is disfigured,

    So his appearance has come to wound my eyes;

  3. ولئيماً فسدت جبلته

    وتوالى بالمخازي محضره

    And O base man, whose nature has grown corrupt,

    And whose presence has brought disgrace upon disgrace:

  4. ليس ماضيكَ الذي نصرفه

    بالذي يمحى سريعاً أَثره

    Your past, which we set aside, is not

    One whose traces are quickly erased.

  5. عُداليه واحتجب عنا فقد

    كاد أن يعلق فينا شرره

    Return to it and hide from us, for

    Its sparks have nearly taken hold of us.

  6. أَبلَغوني أَنه يشتمني

    أبلِغوه أَنني أحتقره

    They told me that he insults me;

    Tell him that I despise him.
