morning’s tears and spring’s blossoms,

the tears of dawn and the flowers of spring

منسقةً كاللآلي تحلي

منسقةً كاللآلي تحلي

جبينَ الورود بشكلٍ بديع

جبينَ الورود بشكلٍ بديع

arrayed like pearls, adorning

arranged like twinkling stars adorning

the roses’ brow in wondrous fashion.

the forehead of roses in a wonderful way

هي الشهبُ تغرب في المشرقين

هي الشهبُ تغرب في المشرقين

وخدَّاك مغربُ شهبِ الدموع

وخدَّاك مغربُ شهبِ الدموع

They are shooting stars setting in the two easts,

They are the falling stars setting in the two easts

and your two cheeks are where the shooting stars of tears set.

and your cheeks are the sunset of the tears' falling stars

يرفرفُ جفنك إمّا هوت

يرفرفُ جفنك إمّا هوت

فيخفقُ قلبي بنار الولوع

فيخفقُ قلبي بنار الولوع

Your eyelid flutters whenever they fall,

your eyelids flutter, did they fall

and my heart throbs with the fire of ardent love.

so my heart flutters with the fire of passion

كأنَّ بصدري شيئاً يهزُّ

كأنَّ بصدري شيئاً يهزُّ

مشاعرَ روحي ويذكي الضلوع

مشاعرَ روحي ويذكي الضلوع

As though something in my breast were stirring

It is as if something in my chest shakes

my soul’s feelings and setting my ribs aflame.

the feelings of my soul and kindles my ribs

وإن كنت أضبتني وهجرتِ

وإن كنت أضبتني وهجرتِ

وخلَّفتِ قلبي حليفَ الهلوع

وخلَّفتِ قلبي حليفَ الهلوع

And though you had melted me away and forsaken me,

And if you disappointed me and abandoned me

and left my heart a companion of anguish,

and left my heart the companion of anguish

ولكن دموعُك لاشت قواي

ولكن دموعُك لاشت قواي

فها أنا ذا أتمنّى الرجوع

فها أنا ذا أتمنّى الرجوع

yet your tears have dissolved my strength;

But your tears have ignited my strength

so here I am, longing to return

so here I am wishing to return

إلى السقم واليأس والموت فيكِ

إلى السقم واليأس والموت فيكِ

فكُفّي البكاءَ وصوني الدموع

فكُفّي البكاءَ وصوني الدموع

to sickness, despair, and death for love of you.

to the sickness, despair and death in you

So cease your weeping and spare your tears.

So cease your crying and spare me the tears
