Habib, O third of the two moons,

And a crown upon Farqad's head.

You were born pure, even if they made you bear

    Adam's sin at birth.

And your soul is purer than every light,

And your body purer than gold.

If indeed they have made you Christian, this voluntary act

Is remembrance and refreshment for the thirsty heart.

In it we celebrate Jesus' act of redemption,

And honor your redeemer and the one who ransoms himself.

You were raised from the water, as the sun is

Raised from its sea at the dawn of every morrow.

And you added splendor to splendor,

And won an even greater share of beauty.

As blossoms grew fragrant after rain,

And rose with pure, dewy mouths.

So remain, O beloved of hearts, beloved,

May you be wished a life of fullest ease,

And grow up among the finest of men,

O you of noble origin and descent.
