عجْ بالمطي عَلَى قبرٍ ببلقعةٍ

عجْ بالمطي عَلَى قبرٍ ببلقعةٍ

تضمَّن الطهرَ والأخلاقَ والكرما

تضمَّن الطهرَ والأخلاقَ والكرما

Turn aside with the riding camels to a grave in a barren waste,

I wonder at the rider stopping by a grave in Mu'alla

That holds purity, moral virtues, and generosity.

Wherein lay piety, morals and generosity combined

وَخلِّ عينَكَ تذر الدمعَ منسجماً

وَخلِّ عينَكَ تذر الدمعَ منسجماً

إنَّ العفافَ بكى من ذا المصاب دما

إنَّ العفافَ بكى من ذا المصاب دما

And let your eye shed tears in an unbroken flow;

Let your eyes be relieved as tears flow smoothly

Indeed, chastity has wept blood over this calamity.

Chastity itself wept at this terrible misfortune

سقى ضريحَكِ ماءُ الجفن إِنْ بخلتْ

سقى ضريحَكِ ماءُ الجفن إِنْ بخلتْ

مدامعُ المزنِ يا بنتَ الرسول هما

مدامعُ المزنِ يا بنتَ الرسول هما

May the eyelid's tears water your tomb, if

If you begrudge it, the water from your eyes will water your tomb

The rainclouds' tear ducts withhold their flow, O daughter of the Messenger.

The tears of the bereaved, O daughter of the Prophet, will do so

وَروَّحَ اللهُ روحاً منك طاهرةً

وَروَّحَ اللهُ روحاً منك طاهرةً

وَزادك اللهُ في فردوسِه نعما

وَزادك اللهُ في فردوسِه نعما

And may God grant repose to your pure soul,

May God refresh a pure soul from you

And may God increase your blessings in His Paradise.

And increase your blessings in His Paradise

وَعظَّمَ اللهُ أَجرَ الدينِ فهو شجٍ

وَعظَّمَ اللهُ أَجرَ الدينِ فهو شجٍ

وأَلهم الطهرَ عنك الصبرَ فهو كما

وأَلهم الطهرَ عنك الصبرَ فهو كما

And may God magnify religion's reward, for it is grief-stricken,

May God magnify the reward of religion which is arduous

And inspire purity with patience without you, for it is overcome with grief.

And inspire purity and patience, which is likewise
