حتى أبيت هامةً في لحدي
I swore, in loving you, to keep the covenant,
I was faithful in loving you
Until I lie, a skull, within my grave.
Until I became sleepless in my grave

For my part, I have made myself an endowment for you,
I made myself devoted to you
Yet I do not see you preserving my affection.
Yet I see not that you keep my love

May my mother, my father, and my soul be your ransom,
For your sake I sacrifice my mother, father and soul
O my hope, my loneliness, and my solace.
O my hope, loneliness and intimacy

How much misery and ill fortune I have met,
How much misfortune and unluckiness have I endured
So that one day you might appear in good fortune's radiance.
That you may one day appear with good fortune

My heart has never beaten for any love but yours,
My heart beats for none but your love
And but for you, my eye would never have known sleeplessness.
And my eyes shed tears for none but you

So spare a lovesick man who saw you and fell in love;
So hurry, like the early downpour when it pours
You will find no one sincere after me.
You'll find none as true to you as I after me

What can the curly tresses that please you avail
Beyond my love and my consuming passion for you?
Beyond my love and passion for you?

If a life's sacrifice would ransom you,
If my soul's sacrifice redeems you
Then command it [reading uncertain]—there can be no refusal.
Then confide in me, none can rebut

حائدة عن سننِ الوفاء
I marveled at your rejection and coldness,
I'm amazed at indifference and aloofness
As you turned aside from the paths of fidelity.
Deviating from traditions of loyalty

Come, let us spend our lifetime in union,
Come, let's spend life in union
For death judges between us through rejection [reading uncertain].
For death separates us with barriers

Do not reproach me for weeping and grief,
Don't blame me for tears and sorrow
For even a little of my love for you wastes me away.
For some of my love for you makes me sad

Lovers have learned only from me;
Lovers get nothing but pain
So what would it cost you to weep for my lot?
So why blame me if I cry in earnest?

My eyes freely shed passionate tears
And cool the glowing ember of longing.
Cooling the heat of fervent longing

To aid me against passion's tyranny, or bring relief.
Overstepping the injustice of love, or you'll find me

To behold a nightingale upon a tender bough,
A nightingale on a moist branch

Stirred by sight of his beloved's grave
So it kept weeping for the one who died of longing.
He kept weeping at her loss in passion

You neglected, you neglected, while I was faithful
Then let life's garden be sweet after me.
Let the garden of life be desolate after me

I have no escape from going down to the waters of death.
I have no alternative to the calamity of loss

My life became a flood overflowing
In love's keeping, a martyr to separation.
A martyr to love, killed by separation
