And when she appeared, she seemed,

والشِّعرُ مَسدولاً حكى

بِسوادِهِ حَلَكَ الغُرابِ

with her hair hanging loose, resembling

And the hair flowing told

in its blackness the raven’s deep darkness—

With its blackness the story of a raven

أُفْقٌ يَزينُ صَفاءَه

بدْرٌ تَكَلَّلَ بالسَّحابِ
