1. لَما رآكَ مَليكَنا شَمساً لَهُ

    لَم يَرضَ بَعدَكَ عَن أَثيرٍ عالي

    When our king saw you as a sun for him,

    He would not accept your distance from the lofty ether.

  2. فَجَلاكَ في دارِ السَعادَةِ قائِلاً

    خورشيد أَرّخ ناظِرٌ لِلمالِ

    So he made you shine in the Abode of Felicity, saying:

    “Khurshid—record the date—is overseer of finance.”
