أَهدوا الثَناءَ لظلِّ اللَهِ وَاِبتَهَجوا

وَشاهَدوا الآن ما تَحيي بِهِ المُهَجُ

وَشاهَدوا الآن ما تَحيي بِهِ المُهَجُ

Offer praise to God’s Shadow, and rejoice;

Offer praise to the shadow of God, and rejoice.

Behold now that by which souls are brought to life.

And behold now that through which souls come alive.

وَعاينَوا اللُطفَ مِن آفاقِ سَدَّتِهِ

وَعاينَوا اللُطفَ مِن آفاقِ سَدَّتِهِ

كَالغَيثِ يَهمي وَفي تهتانِهِ الأَرجُ

كَالغَيثِ يَهمي وَفي تهتانِهِ الأَرجُ

Witness grace from the horizons of his court,

And witness the grace from the horizons of his court,

Like pouring rain, with fragrance in its steady showers.

Pouring like rain, with fragrance in its showers.

هَل مثل عَبد العَزيز اليَومَ مِن مَلكٍ

هَل مثل عَبد العَزيز اليَومَ مِن مَلكٍ

بِفَضلِهِ تَفخَرُ الأَيّامُ وَالحُجَجُ

بِفَضلِهِ تَفخَرُ الأَيّامُ وَالحُجَجُ

Is there today a king like Abd al-Aziz,

Is there today any king like Abd al-Aziz,

In whose excellence days and years take pride?

In whose excellence the days and years take pride?

جُلوسَهُ كانَ مَبدىً لِلسَعادَةِ في الدُنيا

جُلوسَهُ كانَ مَبدىً لِلسَعادَةِ في الدُنيا

فَفاضَت لَنا مِن يمنهِ لجَجُ

فَفاضَت لَنا مِن يمنهِ لجَجُ

His accession was the beginning of happiness in this world,

His accession was the beginning of happiness in the world,

And floods overflowed to us from his auspiciousness.

So deep seas overflowed for us from his good fortune.

أَبدى لَنا عَصر نورٍ فَائِضاً ذَهَباً

أَبدى لَنا عَصر نورٍ فَائِضاً ذَهَباً

وَبَسطَ عَيشِ عَليهِ الرَغد مُندَرِجُ

وَبَسطَ عَيشِ عَليهِ الرَغد مُندَرِجُ

He revealed to us an age of light streaming gold,

He revealed to us an age of light, overflowing with gold,

And spread a life of ease, with prosperity enfolding it.

And ample living, with ease enfolded within it.

يا صاح مَولاك جل الآن عَن مثلٍ

يا صاح مَولاك جل الآن عَن مثلٍ

فَقُل هُوَ الفَرد في الدُنيا وَلا حَرَجُ

فَقُل هُوَ الفَرد في الدُنيا وَلا حَرَجُ

Friend, your sovereign now transcends all comparison;

O friend, your lord now stands exalted beyond any peer.

Say: he is the peerless one in this world, beyond dispute.

So say: he is peerless in the world, and there is no blame.

ما زالَ يَرفَعُ قَدر الملك مُقتَدِراً

ما زالَ يَرفَعُ قَدر الملك مُقتَدِراً

إِذا اِرتَقى دَرجاً عَنَّت لَهُ دَرَجُ

إِذا اِرتَقى دَرجاً عَنَّت لَهُ دَرَجُ

Ever has he raised the stature of kingship in full power;

He keeps raising the dignity of kingship with power;

Whenever he ascends a rank, the ranks bow before him.

Whenever he climbs a step, further steps appear before him.

أَضحى يُجدد فَخر العَرش متشحاً

أَضحى يُجدد فَخر العَرش متشحاً

شُعاع مَجدٍ بِهِ العَلياءُ تَبتَهِجُ

شُعاع مَجدٍ بِهِ العَلياءُ تَبتَهِجُ

He has come to renew the throne’s glory, cloaked in

He now renews the pride of the throne, cloaked in

A ray of majesty in which the heights rejoice.

A ray of glory in which the heights rejoice.

سَريرُهُ في أَثير السَعدِ مُرتَفِعٌ

سَريرُهُ في أَثير السَعدِ مُرتَفِعٌ

لَهُ حِجابٌ مِن التَوفيقِ مُنتَسجُ

لَهُ حِجابٌ مِن التَوفيقِ مُنتَسجُ

His throne rises in the ether of felicity;

His throne is raised high in the ether of good fortune;

Around it is a veil woven of success.

It has a veil woven of success.

في بابِهِ العَدلُ بِالإِحسان مُتَحدٌ

في بابِهِ العَدلُ بِالإِحسان مُتَحدٌ

وَالمَجدُ بِالحلم وَالإِنصاف مُندَمِجُ

وَالمَجدُ بِالحلم وَالإِنصاف مُندَمِجُ

At his gate, justice is united with beneficence,

At his gate, justice is united with beneficence,

And glory is blended with forbearance and equity.

And glory is mingled with forbearance and fairness.

يَحبي البِلادَ بِما يَحيي العِباد وَما

يَحبي البِلادَ بِما يَحيي العِباد وَما

يَعمُّ في الكَون مِنهُ الخَيرُ وَالفَرَجُ

يَعمُّ في الكَون مِنهُ الخَيرُ وَالفَرَجُ

He revives the lands with what revives the people, and with what

He endows the lands with what gives the people life, and with that

Spreads from him throughout creation—goodness and relief.

From which goodness and relief spread throughout the universe.

فَكُلُ فَضلٍ إِذا ما كانَ مَصَدَرَهُ

فَكُلُ فَضلٍ إِذا ما كانَ مَصَدَرَهُ

مِن حِلمِهِ فَهُوَ عَينٌ ما بِها دَعجُ

مِن حِلمِهِ فَهُوَ عَينٌ ما بِها دَعجُ

Every excellence, whenever its source

So every bounty, whenever it has its source

Is his forbearance, is a spring with no darkness in it.

In his forbearance, is a spring with no darkness in it.

ساوى الرَعية في قسطاسِ رَحَمَتِهِ

ساوى الرَعية في قسطاسِ رَحَمَتِهِ

فَوطد الوفقَ لا خَلفٌ وَلا هَرجُ

فَوطد الوفقَ لا خَلفٌ وَلا هَرجُ

He made his subjects equal in the scales of his mercy,

He treated his subjects equally in the scales of his mercy,

And established concord—no breach and no tumult.

So he secured concord, with neither discord nor turmoil.

قَرَّت نَواظِرُنا فيها وَالسِننا

قَرَّت نَواظِرُنا فيها وَالسِننا

بِغَيرِ شُكر عَلاهُ لَيسَ تَختَلِجُ

بِغَيرِ شُكر عَلاهُ لَيسَ تَختَلِجُ

Our eyes found delight therein, and our tongues

Our eyes find delight in it, and our tongues

Do not stir without giving thanks for his exalted worth.

Do not stir except in thanks for his eminence.

فَحَمدُهُ في صُدور الناس مُنطَبِعٌ

فَحَمدُهُ في صُدور الناس مُنطَبِعٌ

وَحُبُهُ بِدِماءِ الخَلقِ مُمتَزِجُ

وَحُبُهُ بِدِماءِ الخَلقِ مُمتَزِجُ

Praise of him is imprinted upon the people’s breasts,

So praise of him is imprinted in people's breasts,

And love of him is mingled with the blood of creation.

And love for him is mingled with the blood of humankind.

راحَ السُرور بَدَت مِن راح نِعمَتِهِ

راحَ السُرور بَدَت مِن راح نِعمَتِهِ

كُلٌّ بِها ثملٌ كُلٌّ بِها لَهجُ

كُلٌّ بِها ثملٌ كُلٌّ بِها لَهجُ

The wine of joy appeared from the palm of his bounty;

The wine of joy appeared from the palm of his bounty;

All are drunk on it; all speak of it with fervor.

All are drunk with it; all are devoted to it.

وَعَصرُهُ اليَمنُ فيهِ أَرخوهُ وَها

وَعَصرُهُ اليَمنُ فيهِ أَرخوهُ وَها

ذكر الجُلوسِ بِهِ الإِسعادُ وَالبهجُ

ذكر الجُلوسِ بِهِ الإِسعادُ وَالبهجُ

And his age—“Good fortune is within it”—they used to date it; and behold,

And his age holds good fortune—date it, and behold:

The remembrance of his accession therein is felicity and joy.

The commemoration of his accession, bringing happiness and joy.
