أَرختُ بِاليُمن وِسام الرِضى

Now it has appeared upon the horizon of the Lord of loftiness—

It has appeared on the horizon of the lord of glory.

I auspiciously dated the badge of favor.

I auspiciously recorded the date of the medal of favor.

فَقامَ بِالتاريخ بَدر الهُدى

فَقامَ بِالتاريخ بَدر الهُدى

يَحلو لِعُثمان هِلالاً أَضا

يَحلو لِعُثمان هِلالاً أَضا

Then the full moon of guidance fulfilled the chronogram,

Thus, with the chronogram, the full moon of guidance rose,

To ʿUthmān it is sweet, as a crescent that shone.

Pleasing Uthman as a crescent that shone.
