Your standing, O Louis, in intellect and learning

Is a standing well known in Egypt.

Through your diligence, not your grandfather, eminent though he is,

You excelled and have attained the highest rank.

You treat disease, however much it resists medicine,

So it does not defy your prohibitions or commands.

And you care nothing for payment, yet

You always return laden with thanks.

May marriage to a noble woman bring you joy,

One of the graceful, fair maidens, and endowed with purity.

May God honor Maryam as a bride:

She is beauty unveiled in the sun of a bridal chamber.

You have found happiness with her, as she has; so rejoice together,

And live in harmony for a long lifetime.
