1. قُلِّدْتِ بِالْحَقِّ وَشَاحَ الكَمَالْ

    ذَاكَ هُوَ الرَّمْزُ وَأَنْتِ المِثَالْ

    You were rightfully invested with the sash of perfection.

    That is the symbol, and you are the embodiment.

  2. فِي صُورَةٍ لَمَّاحَةٍ شَرَّفَتْ

    يَد الْعلَى فِيهَا الحِجَى وَالجَمَالْ

    In a radiant image, honor was bestowed

    by the hand of eminence upon wisdom and beauty.

  3. فَارْوقُنَا بُورِكَ فِي عُمْرِهِ

    دَبَّرَ مُلْكاً وَالصِّبَا فِي إِقْتِبَالْ

    Our Farouk—may his life be blessed—

    governed a kingdom while youth was still in its first bloom.

  4. وَأَحْكَمَ الرَّأْيَ فَمَا حِكْمُهُ

    إِلاَّ فِعَالٌ أَعْقَبَتُهَا فِعَالْ

    And made his judgment sound; his rule is nothing

    but deeds followed by deeds.

  5. سُبْحَانَ مَنْ أَعْطَاهُ تِلْكَ النَّهَى

    سُبْحَانَ مَنْ أَعْطَاهُ تِلْكَ الخِصَالْ

    Glory to Him who gave him those powers of reason!

    Glory to Him who gave him those virtues!

  6. لاَ بِدْعَ أَنْ تَبْلُغَ فِي عَهْدِهِ

    أُمَّتُهُ مَرْتَبَةً لاَ تُنَالْ

    No wonder that, in his reign, should rise

    his nation to a rank beyond reach.

  7. لَمْ يَدَّخِرْ وَسعاً لإِنْهَاضِهَا

    وَحَيثُما أَلقَى عِثاراً أَقَالْ

    He spared no effort to raise it up,

    and wherever he found a stumble [reading uncertain], he remedied it.

  8. أَلْعَدْلُ فِي تَصْريفِهِ شامَلٌ

    وَالفَضْلُ مَبْذَولٌ بِغَيْرِ إِبْتِذَالْ

    Justice is all-embracing in his administration,

    and bounty is bestowed without debasement.

  9. يُهْنِئْكِ الإنْعَام مِنْ عَاهِلٍ

    يُقَدِّرُ بِالإِنْعَامِ قَدْرَ الفِعَالْ

    May the honor bestowed by a sovereign gladden you,

    who, through granting honors, recognizes the worth of deeds.

  10. يَا كَوْكَبَ القُطْبَ وَنُورَ الهُدَى

    لِقَوْمِهَا وَالعَصْرُ عَصْرُ إِنْتِقَال

    O pole star and light of guidance

    for her people, in an age of transition!

  11. أَدْرَكْتِ فِي المَجْدِ وَلَمْ تَقْصُرِي

    حَقِيقَةً يَقْصِرُ عَنْهَا الخَيَالْ

    You have attained in glory, without falling short,

    a reality beyond the reach of imagination.

  12. أَلْعِلْمُ وَالفَنُّ وَمَا وَلَّدَا

    قَوَّمْتِ مِنْهَا كُلَّ غَالٍ وَعَالْ

    Knowledge and art, and what they have brought forth—

    you have upheld all that is precious and lofty in them.

  13. وَمَا يَفِيدُ النَّاسَ يَسَّرْتِهِ

    لِرَفْعِ شَأْنٍ أَوْ لإِصْلاَحِ حَالْ

    And whatever benefits people, you have made accessible,

    to raise their standing or improve their condition.

  14. لَمْ أَرَ أَمْضَى مِنْكِ عَزْماً وَإِنْ

    عَزَّ الَّذِي رُمْتِ وَشُقَّ المَجَالْ

    I have seen none keener than you in resolve, even if

    what you sought was elusive and the way difficult.

  15. كَوَاهِلٌ مَحْمُولُهُنْ الحِلَى

    حَمَلْنَ أَعْبَاءَ الهُمُومِ الثِّقَالْ

    Shoulders whose burden was adornment

    have borne the heavy burdens of care.

  16. وَأَنْمُلاَتٌ بِضَّةٌ تَبْتَنِي

    لِمِصْرَ ذُخْراً وَالمَبَانِي جِبَالْ

    And tender fingertips are building

    for Egypt a treasure—and the buildings are mountains.

  17. مِنْ لَيْسَ مِنْ حَوِّيائِهِ مُنْفَقاً

    فَلَيْسَ كُلُّ الأمْرِ إِنْفَاقَ مَال

    Whoever does not give of his inner self [reading uncertain]—

    for it is not all a matter of spending money.

  18. تَشْقَيْنَ لِلتَّرْفِيهِ عَمْنْ شَقَوا

    مَا كَانَ أَحْرَاكِ بِعَيْشِ الدَّلالْ

    You endure hardship to relieve those who have suffered,

    How deserving you were of a life of pampering!

  19. شَتَّى مُبرَّاتُكِ تُقْضَى بِهَا

    حَوَائِجُ الحَالِ وَيُرْعَى المَالْ

    Your charitable works are many; through them are met

    the needs of the present, and wealth is safeguarded,

  20. مِمْا بِهِ يُسْتَثْمَرٌ العَقْلُ أَوْ

    تُهَيَأُ الأَيْدِي لِكَسْبٍ حَلاَلْ

    by means that put the mind to fruitful use, or

    hands are prepared to earn a lawful living,

  21. أَوْ تُصْلَحُ الأُسْرَةُ فِي وُلْدِهَا

    لِيَنْشَأ النِّشْءُ قَوِيمَ الخِلاَلْ

    or the family is reformed through its children,

    so the rising generation grows upright in character.

  22. صَنَعْتِ لِلشَّعْبِ يلبي وَمَا

    يَدْعُو وَيَقْضِي السُّؤَالَ قَبْلَ السُّؤَالْ

    You made for the people [what] responds, and what

    calls and fulfills the request before the asking.

  23. فَالشَّعْبُ بِالإِجْمَاعِ يُثْنِي وَإِنْ

    لَمْ يَكْفِهِ فِي الشُّكْرِ قَوْلٌ يُقَالُ

    So the people give praise unanimously, though

    no spoken words have sufficed to express their thanks.

  24. يَا ذَاتَ قَدْرٍ كُلُّ مَنْ فِي الحِمَى

    يَجُلهُ يَرْعَاكِ رَبَّ الحَلاَلْ

    O lady whose worth everyone within the realm

    reveres—may the Lord of what is lawful watch over you.

  25. دُومِي عَلَى رَأْسِ الرُّقِيَّ الَّذِي

    أَوْتَيْتِيهِ وَهْوَ بَعِيدُ المُنَالْ

    Remain at the summit of the advancement that

    you were granted, though it is difficult to attain.

  26. خَالِدَةٌ فِي مِصْرَ آثَارُهُ

    نِسَاؤُهَا تَحْمِدُهُ وَالرِّجَالْ

    Its traces endure forever in Egypt;

    her women praise it, and her men.
