بِاليُمْنِwith good fortune قَدْindeed آنَسْتَyou have gladdened يَاO سَيِّدِيmy lord
بِاليُمْنِ قَدْ آنَسْتَ يَا سَيِّدِي
حَاضِرَةًa city أَوْحَشْتَهَاyou left it lonely مُنْذُsince عَامْa year
حَاضِرَةً أَوْحَشْتَهَا مُنْذُ عَامْ
With good fortune, you have gladdened, my lord,
With Yemen you became acquainted, my master
a city you left lonely a year ago.
A city you left desolate a year ago
يبْقَىendures عَلَىthroughout الدَّهْرِthe ages بِهَاin it كُلُّall مَاthat which
يبْقَى عَلَى الدَّهْرِ بِهَا كُلُّ مَا
خَلَّدْتَyou immortalized فِيهَاin it مِنْof مَسَاعٍendeavors جِسَامْmighty
خَلَّدْتَ فِيهَا مِنْ مَسَاعٍ جِسَامْ
There, for all time, will endure all
Whatever great deeds you accomplished there
the mighty endeavors you have immortalized within it.
Will forever remain through time’s endless flow
ذَلِكَthat فَضْلُthe bounty of اللهِGod يُؤْتِيهُHe grants it مَنْwhomever
ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللهِ يُؤْتِيهُ مَنْ
نَاطَHe entrusted بِهِto him إِصْلاحَreforming شَأْنِthe affairs of الأَنَامْhumankind
نَاطَ بِهِ إِصْلاحَ شَأْنِ الأَنَامْ

حَيْفَاHaifa تُحيِّيكَshe salutes you وَهَيْهَاتْyet far from possible أَنْto

يَقْضِيfulfills بِشُكْرٍwith thanks حَقَّthe due of ذَاكَthat المَقَامْstation
يَقْضِي بِشُكْرٍ حَقَّ ذَاكَ المَقَامْ
Haifa salutes you, yet it is impossible
Haifa bids you welcome, yet words can hardly
to pay that station its due with thanks.
Repay the merit of your presence sublime
تُثْنِيshe praises عَلَىon الشَّهْمِthe noble man الَّذِيwho عَاشَlived فِيin
تُثْنِي عَلَى الشَّهْمِ الَّذِي عَاشَ فِي
رِبَاعِهَاher quarters مَاas long as عَاشَhe lived مِنْfrom غَيْرِother than ذَامْreproach
رِبَاعِهَا مَا عَاشَ مِنْ غَيْرِ ذَامْ
She praises the noble man who lived in
You praise the valor of those who lived
her quarters, without reproach throughout his stay.
Within its bounds, matchless through all time
فَمَاso not تَنيshe slackens تَحْمُدُshe praises آثَارَهُhis deeds
فَمَا تَني تَحْمُدُ آثَارَهُ
وَتَحْفَظُand she keeps العَهْدَthe pledge وَتَرْعَىand she honors الذِّمَامْthe bonds of loyalty
وَتَحْفَظُ العَهْدَ وَتَرْعَى الذِّمَامْ
So she never ceases to praise his deeds,

And how great he is—resolute and judicious,
Make it your mission, unwavering, staunch
steadfast through trials, decisive and valiant!

يَزْدَادُhe grows لُطْفاًin kindness مَاas عَلاrises قَدْرُهُhis standing
يَزْدَادُ لُطْفاً مَا عَلا قَدْرُهُ
وَهَكَذَاand thus شَأْنُthe way of الرِّجَالِthe men العِظَامْgreat
وَهَكَذَا شَأْنُ الرِّجَالِ العِظَامْ
He grows in kindness as his standing rises,
The greater his status, the kinder his ways
and such is the way of great men.
