She pursues poverty with her kindness,
She chases away poverty with her charity
And it is indeed the most odious deceiver.
And it is the most cunning of villains

She battles hunger with her faith
And hunger is unbelief itself, or more faithless still.
And hunger is the eye of disbelief or worse than disbelief

She stays in generosity, pardoning
The harm done by sleeplessness and gambling;
What refinement and affluence would bring about

Some blame her slowness to reproach
But she does not reproach them if they fall short.
Yet she does not blame them if they fall short

Suspect goodness and refuse to excuse.
Suspect goodness and do not pardon
