and meeting at the source of light.
O child, you are a temple of virtue
ياO طِفْلُchild إِنَّكindeed you لِلفَضِيلَةfor virtue مَعْبَدُa temple
فَلَدَيْكَso before you أَرْكَعُI kneel بِالضَّميرِin conscience وَأَسْجُدُand I prostrate myself
O child, you are a temple to virtue;
So I bow to you in conscience and prostrate
before you I kneel in conscience and prostrate myself
To the Maker, Glorious and Compeller
لِلصَّانِعِto the Maker المُكَبِّرِthe Giver of greatness الجَبارِthe Almighty
أَجْثُوI kneel وَأَرْجُوand I hope ضَارِعاًpleading مُتَخَشِّعاًreverent
to the Maker who grants greatness, the Almighty.
I kneel and plead fervently, imploring
I kneel and hope, pleading and reverent,
A smile from you to glean, to peel away
مِنْكَfrom you ابْتِسَاماًa smile أَجْتَلِيهِI behold it لِيُقْشِعاso it may dispel
عَنِّيfrom me مَكَايِدَthe snares دَهْرِيَmy age الغَدَّارِtreacherous
for a smile from you that I may behold, to dispel
From me the schemes of my treacherous fate
from me the snares of my treacherous age.
You have forgiven - and they persisted only
فَلَقَدْfor indeed صفَحْتَyou pardoned تَكَرُّهاًreluctantly وَتَطوُّلاًand generously
عَمَّنthose who أَبَوْاrefused إِلاَّanything but الأَذَىharm لَكَto you وَالقِلىand hatred
For you have pardoned, reluctantly yet generously,
In harm to you and torment - to the point they confused
those who insisted on nothing but harm and hatred toward you,
The forgiving of the Creator
حتىuntil أَرَابُوَthey cast doubt فِيon سَمَاحِthe clemency البارِيthe Creator
until they cast doubt on the Creator's clemency.
