وَفَدُواthey came as visitors يَسأَلُونَنِيthey ask me كَيْفَhow حَالِيmy condition
وَفَدُوا يَسأَلُونَنِي كَيْفَ حَالِي
لَوْif only دَرَوْاthey knew مَاwhat جَوابُanswer هَذَاthis السؤَالِthe question
لَوْ دَرَوْا مَا جَوابُ هَذَا السؤَالِ
They came to ask me how I fare.
If only they knew the answer to this question!
مَاwhat حَيَاتِيmy life بَعْدَafter الَّتِيthe one who هِيَit مِنْهَاfrom her
مَا حَيَاتِي بَعْدَ الَّتِي هِيَ مِنْهَا
مَاwhat كِفَاحِيmy struggle فِيهاin it وَمَاand what آماليmy hopes
مَا كِفَاحِي فِيها وَمَا آمالي
What is my life after her from whom it came?
What is my struggle in it, and what are my hopes?
