Take fine poetry from what al-Mahi has recorded.

None has refined poetry like al-Mahi, the recorder.

An anthology of an age, in which you see its masterpieces,

From every flourishing poet or every keen-eyed one.

He strings words together, so minds are in rapture,

From the intoxication of the spirit, not the intoxication of wine.

You see his rhymes, in their beauty, as growing plants,

As one lamp follows upon another.

When he chants amid the gathering, reciting it,

You hear a marvel of lucidity and eloquence.
