وَالنُّورُ تَاجٌ وَالفَرِيدُ عِقْدُ
She was led to you as a bride, and time was roses;
The season has come to you bearing roses,
And light was a crown, and pearls a necklace;
Light is the crown and creation the necklace.

Two aflame with thirst—and taste
Thirsty souls meet
A cup whose mixture is passion and happiness.
And taste a cup whose mixture intoxicates.

Love is nothing but blessing and safety
Love is nothing but a blessing and safety
For its people, and mercy and good fortune.
For its people, and mercy and prosperity,

Leave aside a reproacher, or one asking what comes next.
Leave any blamer or questioner; what comes after is prosperity.
Today, darkness flows as wine,
Today there is darkness pouring wine

And tomorrow a sun whose honey matured prosperity.

Today the maiden comes to know love,
Today the virgin’s love is known
And she incurs no reproach in love.
And she has no shame in love,

And the time of virtuous youth has come
Preparing for the world's flourishing those it prepares.
That prepares for civilization one who prepares.

A captive of youth in the most precious land
Indeed, roses resemble the one held dear.
Indeed, the flowers resemble the one who loves.

Jurjita, the rhymes have been permitted
To describe the bride at the hour of the wedding;
To describe the bride at the time of marriage

Except that a meaning from it appears in it.

Of a spirit of grace, in a form of light;
Of the spirit of a graceful ideal of light

By God, in your bright eyes

Shines the genuineness across the horizon
With a splendor almost without bounds.
With a delight that can barely be limited.

God be praised for that figure—how exquisite it is!
By God, the elegance of that stature, how wondrous!
