O sender of rice, its eater has begun
O bearer of rice gone by its eater,
To praise you, with the sweetest fragrance in his mouth.
Who praises you, the most fragrant perfume in his mouth,
إِنْif كَانَthere is فِيin البَيْتِthe house مَاsomething that يَذْكُوis fragrant فَيُشْبِهُهُand so resembles it
فَلَيْسَyet not يُشْبِهُmatches لُطْفٌkindness لُطْفَthe kindness of مَهْدَيهِits giver
If there is something fragrant in the house that resembles it,
If there is in the house anything to be kindled resembling it,
Yet no kindness matches the kindness of its giver.
There is no kindness resembling the kindness of its cradle.
