O Prince of Upper Egypt, may God guard you,

And watch over you, O Prince of Upper Egypt.

One half of the land has boasted over another,

Taking pride in its new affiliation.

A title bearing your name, which none can rival,

Was inscribed at the opening of a glorious volume.

It heightened Upper Egypt's glory and revived

With the new what it had lost of its ancient heritage.

    That auspicious rising star is

Glad tidings to its inhabitants of a happy reign.

Have the tidings reached you, riding the lightning,

Out of longing, finding the post too slow?

The spring that you set in motion pulses,

So the letters convey their message in trills.

So when the flash sings of what it conveys,

    Space sings in echo.

And when its light smiles, so do

    The horizons, near and far.

Joy arose in the south, and yet

It embraced the Nile along its far-reaching course.

O king whose glory a crescent has revealed,

How can the Eid crescent match its glad radiance?

Mina was thrilled by the reunion of what

Had been severed from his realm, through a new reign.
