يَاO رَجَاءَhope الوَطَنِthe homeland
يَا رَجَاءَ الوَطَنِ
وَضِيَاءَand light الأَعْيُنِthe eyes
وَضِيَاءَ الأَعْيُنِ
O hope of the homeland,
O hope of the nation,
And light of the eyes,
And brightness of eyes,
إِنْif يَكُbe البَدْرُthe full moon اسْتَوَىhas ascended
إِنْ يَكُ البَدْرُ اسْتَوَى
فَوْقَabove عَرْشٍa throne فُكَنِthen be (uncertain reading)
فَوْقَ عَرْشٍ فُكَنِ
If the full moon has ascended
If the full moon rises,
Above a throne—then be [so].
Above the throne, so be it.
مِصْرُEgypt جَاءَتْhas come وَبِهَاand with her
مِصْرُ جَاءَتْ وَبِهَا
بِالوَلاءِwith allegiance البَينِmanifest
بِالوَلاءِ البَينِ

Manifest allegiance.
Clear loyalty.
إِنَّهَاindeed it is نَهْوَاهُwe love him فِيin
إِنَّهَا نَهْوَاهُ فِي
سِرِّهَاher secrecy وَالعَلَنِand the open
سِرِّهَا وَالعَلَنِ

The evils of time,
وَنَفَىand banished عَنْهَاfrom her بِهِthrough him
وَنَفَى عَنْهَا بِهِ
طَارِئَاتِsudden visitations المِحَنِof adversities
طَارِئَاتِ المِحَنِ
And through him banished from her
And dispel through it
The sudden visitations of adversity.
The calamities of trials.
مَاذَاwhat المِنَنْthe blessings
مَاذَا المِنَنْ
مِنْfrom غَيْرِother than حَصْرِcounting
مِنْ غَيْرِ حَصْرِ
What blessings,
What favors without limit!
Beyond counting!
Support and protect
أَيِّدْuphold وَصُنْand protect
أَيِّدْ وَصُنْ
فَارُوقَFarouk مِصْرِof Egypt
فَارُوقَ مِصْرِ

يَدْفُقُpours forth النَّدَىbounty
يَدْفُقُ النَّدَى
مِنْfrom يَمِينِهِhis right hand

From his right hand,

Guidance shines
يَشْرُقُshines الهُدَىguidance
يَشْرُقُ الهُدَى
مِنْfrom جَبِينِهِhis brow
مِنْ جَبِينِهِ

From his forehead,
From his brow.
So his glory remains
لِيَدُمْmay it endure جُدُّهُhis grandeur
لِيَدُمْ جُدُّهُ
عَالِياًexalted سَرْمَدَاforever
عَالِياً سَرْمَدَا
May his grandeur endure,
Everlasting,
Exalted forever,
And his reign endures
وَيَطُلْand may it last long عَهْدُهُhis reign
وَيَطُلْ عَهْدُهُ
مَاas long as يَطُولُstretches on المَدَىthe span of time
مَا يَطُولُ المَدَى
And may his reign last
As time stretches on.
As long as time stretches on.
