يَا صَدِيقاً شَعَرْتُ إِذْ بَانَ عَنِّي

يَا صَدِيقاً شَعَرْتُ إِذْ بَانَ عَنِّي

أَنَّهُ حِيلَ بَيْنَ رُوحِي وَبَيْنِي

أَنَّهُ حِيلَ بَيْنَ رُوحِي وَبَيْنِي

O friend, at whose parting from me I felt

O friend, I felt when it became clear

that a barrier had been placed between my soul and me.

That my soul was separated from me

فَغَدَوْنَا طَيْفَيْنِ تَرْمُقُ رَسْمِي

فَغَدَوْنَا طَيْفَيْنِ تَرْمُقُ رَسْمِي

مِنْهُ عَيْنٌ وَرَسْمُهُ نُصْبَ عَيْنِي

مِنْهُ عَيْنٌ وَرَسْمُهُ نُصْبَ عَيْنِي

So we became two phantoms; my likeness is watched

So we have become two specters that gaze upon my form

by an eye of his, and his likeness is before my eyes.

One is an eye, and its image is before my eyes
