May she live, with life's serenity untainted—

Ferial, the firstborn of our beloved king.

The angel-child who, from her cradle,

Looked upon the deprived and the dispossessed.

The joys of the princess's birthday have been doubled,

And the people take a share in them.

A fresh era dawned on the day of her birth,

In what a fresh new garment for life!

How many institutions, honored by her name,

Have had their continued, hoped-for success assured!

They grant the weak such aid as brings

Complete satisfaction to the Lord and His creatures.

You have lavished blessings on your people, O Farouk,

Never granted to peoples beneath anyone else's shade.

No kings could ever match you in generosity,

    Were gift compared with gift.

They cannot slake thirst with the moisture of their palms,

And your bounty is downpour after downpour.

O you who followed Farouk's example and vied

In charity, noble women and noble men alike—

Every generous man of sound judgment,

    Adept in dispensing alms, discerning;

And each woman guarded by her modesty and self-respect,

Who unveiled her face without blame or reproach,

Giving her spun yarn to orphans and the widowed,

And shunning flirtation and amorous verse.

O my lords, I truly catch a glimpse

Of heaven, and breathe in a waft of fragrance.

How great is your service to a stumbling people,

Crying for help on behalf of its stricken masses!

The community's peril lies in division within it,

And good—all good—lies in bringing people together.

If you ward off the evil of destitution, you will win

Soon, the reward of the best of rewarders,

And will have shielded the secure land and its people

From the treacheries of an age that threatens calamities.

Aid the poor and improve their lot,

Otherwise, tomorrow is indeed deeply troubling.

And come to the children's aid through the two means of

Making bodies sound and cultivating character.

Thus Egypt will attain what is sought for her

In life: abundance and safety from distress.

And the well-being of the classes hastens its steps

In a fertile pasture for those who work.

    تَدْعُوكَ مِصْرُ وأَنتَ خَيْرُ مُجِيبِ

    O Lord, preserve Farouk and watch over his bonds;

Egypt calls upon You, and You are the best of responders.
