    هل مدمع في ربوع الضاد لم يصب

    Egypt's calamity is the Arab world's calamity.

    Is there an eye in the lands of ḍād that has not been stricken?

  2. أين الزعيمة كانت للفدى مثلا

    بالجهد والمال أو بالنفس إن يجب

    Where is the leader who was a model of self-sacrifice,

    through effort and wealth, or with her life, if need be?

  3. فقد تفردت بالأفعال باهرة

    كما تفردت بالأقوال والخطب

    For you stood unrivaled in dazzling deeds,

    as you stood unrivaled in words and speeches.

  4. إن حزت أعلى وسام للكمال ففي

    كل القلوب لك العليا من الرتب

    If you won the highest medal of excellence, then in

    all hearts the highest ranks are yours.

  5. وفي اتحاد النساء العالمي أما

    خلا لك الصدر عن حب وعن رغب

    And in the International Women's Union, did not

    the foremost place stand open to you, out of love and eagerness?

  6. نفحت عن مصر في إبان ثورتها

    ولم يروعك بأس الجحفل اللجب

    You championed Egypt at the height of her revolution,

    and the might of the clamorous host did not daunt you.

  7. وفي جهادك لم تألي مراعية

    ما للعروبة من إصر ومن نسب

    And in your struggle you spared no effort, mindful

    of the Arab world's bonds and kinship.

  8. تؤيدين الذين استبسلوا فحموا

    أوطانها برماح الخط والقضب

    You supported those who fought valiantly and defended

    its homelands with spears of al-Khaṭṭ and keen swords.

  9. في كل مرحلة تابعت وثبتهم

    والعون يتبع منك العون عن كثب

    At every stage you followed their bold advance,

    and aid from you followed aid close behind.

  10. وهل فلسطين تنسى ما بذلت لها

    فيما تعانيه من حرب ومن حرب

    And can Palestine forget all that you gave her

    amid the war and plunder she endures?

  11. إلى نهاية ما في الجسم من رمق

    كافحت في جلد عنها وفي دأب

    To the last remnant of life in your body,

    you fought for her with fortitude and persistence.

  12. غاليت فيما تقاضيت الحياة وما

    شكوت من سأم يوما ولا نصب

    You aimed high in what you demanded of life, and never

    complained of tedium, even once, or of fatigue.

  13. وقد أبيت إذا داعي السلام دعا

    إلا الشهادة والأعداء لم تغب

    And when the herald of peace called, you insisted

    on being present, while the enemies were not absent.

  14. كائن جهدت لإنصاف الشعوب وكم

    شهدت مؤتمرا في كل مغترب

    How often you strove to bring peoples justice, and how many

    conferences you attended in every foreign land!

  15. سلاحك الحق إن ألقى أشعته

    هوت أباطيلهم رأسا على عقب

    Your weapon is truth; when it casts its rays,

    their falsehoods tumble head over heels.

  16. وهل سلام إذا لم تنتصف أمم

    أغلى مرافقها نهب لمنتهب

    And can there be peace if nations obtain no justice,

    their most precious resources plunder for a plunderer?

  17. وهل يقال إخاء والسبيل دم

    والصدق تغشاه ألوان من الكذب

    And can one speak of brotherhood when the road is blood,

    and truth is shrouded in hues of falsehood?

  18. أما رسالتك المثلى فما برحت

    كما بدأت بها موصولة السبب

    As for your exemplary mission, it remained

    as you began it, its thread unbroken.

  19. ماذا صنعت لإنصاف النساء وكم

    دفعت عنهن من كيد ومن ريب

    What deeds you did to bring women justice, and how much

    scheming and suspicion you warded off from them!

  20. هل يسلم الشعب والشطر الولود به

    من الإماء وهل ينجو من العطب

    Can a people be safe when its childbearing half

    consists of bondwomen? Can it escape ruin?

  21. حررتهن برغم الكاشحين ومن

    يسعى بعزمك لم يخفق ولم يخب

    You freed them despite the spiteful; and whoever

    strives with your resolve has neither failed nor been disappointed.

  22. وكان خير اتحاد ما جمعت به

    من نابهات الغواني نخبة النجب

    And the finest union was where you gathered

    the noble elite from among distinguished beauties.

  23. مؤسساتك لو عدت ولو وصفت

    لما انتهى عجب إلا إلى عجب

    If your institutions were counted and described,

    one marvel would end only in another.

  24. آيات عصر جديد للرقي يرى

    مستقبل الشعب فيها كل مرتقب

    Signs of a new age of progress, revealing

    the people's future to every expectant watcher.

  25. بها تعد البنات الصالحات له

    والأمهات لجيل عامل درب

    In them, virtuous daughters are prepared for the people,

    and mothers for a working, skilled generation.

  26. ماذا صنعت ولم تخطئك مأثرة

    للعلم والفن والأخلاق والأدب

    What deeds you did! No noble achievement eluded you

    in learning, art, morals, and literature.

  27. ظلت رحابك دهرا لا يلم بها

    راج على دهره نصرا ولم يجب

    For years, none came to your spacious courts

    seeking help against fate without being answered.

  28. وكم أعنت صناعا في صناعته

    وكم نشرت من الأسفار والكتب

    And how often you helped a craftsman in his craft,

    and how many volumes and books you published!

  29. يؤمها بالأماني العفاة وما

    ينأى عن الخير منها كل مقترب

    Suppliants approach them with hopes, and no

    one who draws near stays far from their bounty.

  30. زعيمة النهضة الكبرى بلغت بها

    ما عز قبلك أن يرجى من الأرب

    Leader of the great renaissance, through it you attained

    goals that before you had been beyond hope.

  31. لم تذخري دونها شيئا يضن به

    من طيب عيش ومن جاه ومن نشب

    You spared nothing in its cause that one might cherish:

    the sweetness of living, prestige, or wealth.

  32. فالقي ثوابك في الجنات ناعمة

    من يقرض الله ما أقرضته يثب

    So receive your reward in the Gardens, in bliss;

    whoever lends God what you lent Him shall be rewarded.

  33. محمد اسلم لقوم من مفاخرهم

    إنجاب مثلك في الصيابة النجب

    Muhammad, may you live safe for a people whose glories

    include bringing forth your like among the noble elite.

  34. جل الذي أكمل الأخلاق فيك بما

    زكا من النسب الوضاح والحسب

    Exalted is He who perfected your character through

    the purity of illustrious lineage and ancestral honor.

  35. وأنت يا بثن دومي وليدم بكما

    مجد إلى خير أم يعتزى وأب

    And you, Buthn, live on; through you both may there endure

    a glory traced to the finest mother and father.

  36. صوني اتحادا تولته هدى فغدا

    قطبا له شأنه في نهضة العرب

    Safeguard the union Huda led, which thus became

    a pole of influence in the Arab renaissance,

  37. وما لمصر وللجارات من صلة

    تعزها كنظام الشمس والشهب

    and in the ties Egypt shares with her neighbors,

    which exalt her like the order of the sun and blazing stars.
