    Egypt sends peace to her sons,

    As she calls the noble to keep faith.

    The best of her children in her esteem

    Is he who honors her covenant and safeguards the pledge,

    إِنَّ هَذَا لَيَوْمُ فَصْلٍ ورَأْيِ

    When she cast the reins among her people.

    This is indeed a day of decision and judgment;

    There is no room in it for commands and prohibitions.

    Whoever on it charges with oppressive force,

    And assails right guidance with error,

    Champions sin and deems the forbidden lawful.

    أَيِّدُوا كُلَّ عَاقِلٍ وَنَزِيهِ

    On it, pledge allegiance to knowledge and virtue;

    Support every sensible and upright person;

    رَاقِبُوا اللهَ فِي الْحِمَى وَبَنِيهِ

    Shun every ignorant person and fool;

    Be mindful of God concerning the homeland and its sons.

    حَاذِرُوا فِي اخْتِيَارِكُمْ أَنْ تُرَاءُوا

    Whoever makes error his leader goes astray.

    Beware, in your choice, of acting for show;

    Beware lest the rich be made rulers,

    So its ignorant men assume rule.

    حَققُوا بِالكِنَانَةِ الآمَالا

    Prove that there are men in the land;

    Make hopes come true in al-Kinanah;

    إِفْسَحُوا لِلأَكْفَاءِ مِنْكُمْ مَجَالا

    Give reason weight, and make light of wealth;

    Make room for the capable among you,

    إِنَّ مِصْراً تُرِيدُ عَهْداً جَدِيدا

    And urge them: 'Forward, forward!'

    Indeed, Egypt wants a new era;

    She is weary of the past, which was harsh.

    So seek the great and distant goal,

    And follow the crescent's example: it was newborn

    A while ago, then became a perfect full moon.

    لِيَرَى قِمَةَ الْحَيَاةِ لَدَيْكُمْ

    And I seem to see the West gazing toward you,

    To see life's summit in your midst;

    So let it be a witness for you, not against you.

    That is within your power and in your hands,

    If you act wisely, with zeal and resolve.

    O voters, the affairs of the land

    لا تُطِيعُوا مَشُورَةَ الأَحْقَادِ

    Are yours: manage them wisely, and God is the guide.

    Do not heed the counsel of hatred;

    لا تُرُومُوا سِوَى الْفَلاحِ مَرَامَا

    Do not be swayed by a tug of affection;

    Seek no goal but prosperity.

    That is Egypt's concern, east and west,

    And it is no small matter if its outcome is ill.

    عَزَّ حِزْباً وَكَانَ للهِ حِزْبَا

    Whoever, in this, answers when what is right calls him,

    Grows mighty as a party and becomes a party of God;

    هُوَ يَومٌ إِنْ تَعْدِلُوا سَرَّ جِدّاً

    And God protects His party from being wronged.

    This day, if you act justly, will bring great joy;

    So make it an end to the oppression of the past,

    And make it a pledge to the principle of justice.

    عَدْلُ يَوْمٍ يُعَدِّلُ الأَيَّامَا

    One day's justice turns ill fortune into good fortune;

    One day's justice sets the days aright.

    The East watches from the remotest regions

    How you welcome the age of prosperity.

    So show it where virtue lies among you,

    And show it the lightning flashes of reform,

    Filling Egypt's horizons with smiles.

    Egypt was peerless among lands,

    أَيُّهَا النَّائِبُونَ عَنَّا بَدَارِ

    And today she is a sanctuary of relics;

    O you who represent us, make haste,

    To restore to her a youth of glory,

    So she may boast of her people before other peoples.
