وَاليَوْمَand today رَاعَalarmed البِلادَthe land مُصْرَعُthe death
وَاليَوْمَ رَاعَ البِلادَ مُصْرَعُ
إِسْمَعِيلَIsmail فَالحُزْنُso grief شَامِلُall-encompassing عَمَمُuniversal
إِسْمَعِيلَ فَالحُزْنُ شَامِلُ عَمَمُ
And today the land was shaken by the death
Today the country mourns the death
of Ismail; grief is all-encompassing, universal.
Of Ismail, so grief prevails
مَاتَhas died كَرِيمُnoble الحَالَيْنِboth conditions يَعْرِفُهُknows him
مَاتَ كَرِيمُ الحَالَيْنِ يَعْرِفُهُ
فِيin المَوْقِفَيْنِboth situations الحَيَاءُmodesty وَالكَرَمُand generosity
فِي المَوْقِفَيْنِ الحَيَاءُ وَالكَرَمُ
He has died, noble in both conditions; he is known
The generous man in both states died
in both situations to modesty and generosity.
In both situations, modesty and nobility
لَبَّاقَةٌtact فِيin سُلُوكِconduct مُحْتَشِمِa modest man
لَبَّاقَةٌ فِي سُلُوكِ مُحْتَشِمِ
مَاnot كُلُّevery عَالِيhigh الجَنَابِstanding مُحْتَشِمُmodest
مَا كُلُّ عَالِي الجَنَابِ مُحْتَشِمُ
Tact in the conduct of a modest man—
Eloquence in the conduct of the modest
not everyone of high standing is modest.
Not every eminent man is modest
عِزَّةُdignity نَفْسٍsoul يُرَىis seen لَهَاfor it أَثَرٌa trace
عِزَّةُ نَفْسٍ يُرَى لَهَا أَثَرٌ
فِيin كُلِّevery أَمْرٍmatter يَأْتِيهِhe undertakes it مُرْتَطَمُbeset by turmoil
فِي كُلِّ أَمْرٍ يَأْتِيهِ مُرْتَطَمُ
A dignity of soul whose mark is seen
The dignity of a soul that has an effect
in every matter he confronts amid turmoil.
In every matter that befalls crushed
لَطَافةٌgentleness مَاnot تَكَادُalmost تَشْبهُهَاresembles it
لَطَافةٌ مَا تَكَادُ تَشْبهُهَا
مِنْin respect of رشقَّةٍgracefulness فِيin الشَّمَائِلِmanners النُّسَمُthe breezes
مِنْ رشقَّةٍ فِي الشَّمَائِلِ النُّسَمُ
A gentleness scarcely equaled
A subtlety that can barely resemble
by the breezes in grace of bearing.
The gentleness in traits like a soft breeze
شَجَاعَةٌcourage تَغْلُبُovercomes الخُطُوبَcalamities وَمَاand not
شَجَاعَةٌ تَغْلُبُ الخُطُوبَ وَمَا
تَغْلبُهَاovercome it إِنْif تَوَالَتِcome in succession الأُزَمُcrises
تَغْلبُهَا إِنْ تَوَالَتِ الأُزَمُ
A courage that overcomes calamities, and is not
Courage that overcomes disasters, and nothing
overcome by crises, even if they come in succession.
Defeats it if crises continue
مَهْمَاwhatever تَصِبْyou obtain فِيin السُّعُودِgood fortune مِنْof نِعَمٍblessings
مَهْمَا تَصِبْ فِي السُّعُودِ مِنْ نِعَمٍ
مَاnot رَفَّعَتْهُraised him عَنْbeyond حَدِّهِhis limit النِّعَمُblessings
مَا رَفَّعَتْهُ عَنْ حَدِّهِ النِّعَمُ
Whatever blessings you gain in good fortune,
No matter how much good fortune pours upon Al Saud
blessings never raised him beyond his proper bounds.
It did not make him transgress the limit
مَاتَhas died مُحِبُّa lover of البِلادِthe land خَادِمُهَاits servant
مَاتَ مُحِبُّ البِلادِ خَادِمُهَا
بِالمَالِwith wealth وَالرُّوحِand soul حِينَwhen تُحتَدَمُit flares up
بِالمَالِ وَالرُّوحِ حِينَ تُحتَدَمُ
The lover of the land has died, its servant
The lover of the country who served it
with wealth and soul whenever it is aflame.
With money and soul when war flares up, died
فِيin ذِمَّةِthe keeping of اللهِGod خَيْرِthe best مُعْتَزِمٍa resolute man
فِي ذِمَّةِ اللهِ خَيْرِ مُعْتَزِمٍ
لِخَيْرِfor the best of مَاwhat يَبْتَغِيهِseeks it مُعْتَزِمُa resolute man
لِخَيْرِ مَا يَبْتَغِيهِ مُعْتَزِمُ
In God's keeping is the best of resolute men,
In the safekeeping of God, the best intent
resolved upon the best that a resolute man seeks.
For the best of what the intent wants
صَارَwent إِلَىto اللهِGod وَهْوَand He أَرْحَمُmost merciful مَنْthose who
صَارَ إِلَى اللهِ وَهْوَ أَرْحَمُ مَنْ
يَأْوِيtakes refuge إِلَىto فَضْلِهِHis bounty الأُلَىthose who رَحَمُواthey showed mercy
يَأْوِي إِلَى فَضْلِهِ الأُلَى رَحَمُوا
He has gone to God, and He is the most merciful of those
He went to God, and He is more merciful
in whose bounty those who showed mercy take refuge.
Than the first to seek His grace. Have mercy!
