حَدِيث مَا تَجَدَّدَ يُسْتَعَادُ

حَدِيث مَا تَجَدَّدَ يُسْتَعَادُ

وَيُطْرِبُ سَامِعِيهِ وَيُسْتَجَادُ

وَيُطْرِبُ سَامِعِيهِ وَيُسْتَجَادُ

A tale, whenever renewed, is told again,

A conversation renewed is recalled

And delights its listeners and is admired.

Delighting listeners, searched and applauded

سَبَاكَ جَمَالُ بِكْفَيَّا بِحَقٍّ

سَبَاكَ جَمَالُ بِكْفَيَّا بِحَقٍّ

وَفِيهِ كُلُّ مَا يَهْوَى الْفُؤَادُ

وَفِيهِ كُلُّ مَا يَهْوَى الْفُؤَادُ

The beauty of Bikfayya has truly captivated you,

Your beauty is truly sculpted, Bikfayya

And in it is everything the heart desires.

Containing all that gives joy to the heart

تَأَنَّقَتِ الطَّبِيعَةُ فِيهِ حَتَّى

تَأَنَّقَتِ الطَّبِيعَةُ فِيهِ حَتَّى

لَيَعْدُو كُلَّ وَصْفٍ أَوْ يَكَادُ

لَيَعْدُو كُلَّ وَصْفٍ أَوْ يَكَادُ

Nature has arrayed herself there so finely

Nature adorned itself in you until

That it surpasses every description, or nearly does.

Every description is outdone or nearly so

جَمَالٌ إِنْ أَشَدْتَ بِهِ فَفِيهِ

جَمَالٌ إِنْ أَشَدْتَ بِهِ فَفِيهِ

ضُرُوبُ حِلىً بِذِكْرِاهَا يُشَادُ

ضُرُوبُ حِلىً بِذِكْرِاهَا يُشَادُ

A beauty—if you extol it, within it are

A beauty that if you insist upon

Many kinds of adornment, celebrated when recalled.

Varieties of finery in mentioning it are lauded

أَجِلْ فِيهِ لِحَاظَكَ رَائِدَاتِ

أَجِلْ فِيهِ لِحَاظَكَ رَائِدَاتِ

تَجِدْ مَا يُسْتَطَابُ وَيُستَفَادُ

تَجِدْ مَا يُسْتَطَابُ وَيُستَفَادُ

Let your glances roam through it as scouts;

Indeed in it your glances lead

You will find what is pleasing and useful.

Where you find what is loved and benefitted

مَنَاظِرُ تَخْلُبُ الأَلْبَابَ حُسْناً

مَنَاظِرُ تَخْلُبُ الأَلْبَابَ حُسْناً

رَوَابِيهَا الْبَدِيعَةُ وَالمِهَادُ

رَوَابِيهَا الْبَدِيعَةُ وَالمِهَادُ

Scenes that captivate minds with their beauty—

Views that steal minds with beauty

Its wondrous hills and plains.

Its wondrous hills and valleys

وَقَوْمٌ وَادِعُونَ أُوْلُو ذَكَاءٍ

وَقَوْمٌ وَادِعُونَ أُوْلُو ذَكَاءٍ

شَمَائِلُهُمْ مُحَبَّبَةٌ جِيَادُ

شَمَائِلُهُمْ مُحَبَّبَةٌ جِيَادُ

And a peaceful people, endowed with intelligence,

And a tranquil people endowed with intelligence

Their qualities are endearing and excellent.

Their traits beloved and generous

لَهُمْ فِي الْجَالِيَاتِ رِجَالُ حَزْمٍ

لَهُمْ فِي الْجَالِيَاتِ رِجَالُ حَزْمٍ

وَعَزْمٍ أَبْلَغُوهُمْ مَا أَرَادُو

وَعَزْمٍ أَبْلَغُوهُمْ مَا أَرَادُو

In communities abroad, they have men of sound judgment

Among the emigrants they have men of wisdom

And resolve, who have enabled them to attain what they wished.

And resolve who achieved what they intended

أَصَابُوا مَا أَصَابُوا مِنْ نَجَاحٍ

أَصَابُوا مَا أَصَابُوا مِنْ نَجَاحٍ

وَعُدَّتُهُمْ ثَبَاتٌ وَاجْتِهَادُ

وَعُدَّتُهُمْ ثَبَاتٌ وَاجْتِهَادُ

They attained whatever success they attained,

They attained successes

And their equipment was steadfastness and diligence.

Through steadfastness and striving

سَلاَمٌ فِي المَهَاجِرِ يَا كِرَاماً

سَلاَمٌ فِي المَهَاجِرِ يَا كِرَاماً

نَأَوْا عَنَّا وَلَمْ يَنْأَ الْوِدَادُ

نَأَوْا عَنَّا وَلَمْ يَنْأَ الْوِدَادُ

Peace to you in the lands of emigration, O noble ones,

Greetings to the emigrants, O honorable ones

Who have gone far from us, though affection has not grown distant.

Who left us though affection did not wane

تَظَلُّ قُلُوبُنَا تَرْعَى خُطَاكُمْ

تَظَلُّ قُلُوبُنَا تَرْعَى خُطَاكُمْ

فَلَيْسَ يَحُولُ دُونَكُمُ بِعَادُ

فَلَيْسَ يَحُولُ دُونَكُمُ بِعَادُ

Our hearts continue to watch over your steps,

Our hearts continue to graze on your paths

For no distance can stand between us and you.

So no hostility keeps you away

لَنَا مِنْكُمْ بِمَطْلَعِ كُلِّ شَمْسٍ

لَنَا مِنْكُمْ بِمَطْلَعِ كُلِّ شَمْسٍ

دَعَائِمُ لِلْمَفَاخِرِ أَوْ عِمَادُ

دَعَائِمُ لِلْمَفَاخِرِ أَوْ عِمَادُ

At every sunrise, we have in you

Through your rising sun we have

Pillars of glory, or a supporting column.

Pillars of pride and pillars of support

بِعِزِّكُمُ نُعَزُّ وَحْيُثُ شِدْتُمْ

بِعِزِّكُمُ نُعَزُّ وَحْيُثُ شِدْتُمْ

فَإِنَّ لِقَوْمِكُمْ فَخْراً يُشَادُ

فَإِنَّ لِقَوْمِكُمْ فَخْراً يُشَادُ

By your honor we are honored, and wherever you have built,

Through your strength we are strengthened and where you firmed

Then glory is indeed raised for your people.

Your people truly have pride that is lauded

أَيَادِيكُمْ وَقَدْ بُسِطَتْ إِلَيْهِمْ

أَيَادِيكُمْ وَقَدْ بُسِطَتْ إِلَيْهِمْ

بِحَارٌ لِلْبِحَارِ بِهَا ارْتِفَادُ

بِحَارٌ لِلْبِحَارِ بِهَا ارْتِفَادُ

Your hands, already stretched out toward them,

Your hands reached out to them

Are seas from which the seas themselves draw aid.

A sea of seas prosperous through them

فَلاَ غَفَلَتْ عُيُونُ الْيُمْنِ عَنْكُمْ

فَلاَ غَفَلَتْ عُيُونُ الْيُمْنِ عَنْكُمْ

وَلاَ حُرِمَتْ مَآبَكُمْ الْبِلاَدُ

وَلاَ حُرِمَتْ مَآبَكُمْ الْبِلاَدُ

So may the eyes of good fortune never neglect you,

The eyes of Yemen did not neglect you

And may the homeland never be deprived of your return.

Nor were your dwellings deprived of lands
