Your presence is a boon to the age and a bounty

To us; so among us there is always a feast in your honor.

And what is a feast but to congratulate oneself,

While receiving congratulations on days that return to one?

And long has the East congratulated itself on you,

And he who congratulates himself is surely happy.

Yours is the merit; among us it needs no witness,

And if it did, all creation would bear witness.

You renounced your worldly life, withdrawing from it,

And seek nothing but the face of God.

But it would not accept your renunciation,

So it came to you out of longing, though you were far away.

And gave you the glory and eminence it contained,

Like a visitor whose delegations come to you.

And one like you is loftier in rank than its worldly dross,

But the generous man gives freely of what he possesses.

You took pride in them—the insignia of kings—as a sign

Of that; there is nothing new in this.

You raised our standing to the zenith,

For we are a house, and you are its pillar.

A man of resolve that never bends in calamity,

And swords of determination that have no sheaths.

Your care has indeed embraced the whole East,

You travel through its regions and roam.

For you are like a sun whose light embraces the earth,

And rain that lavishes its showers upon it.
