لا بارك اللَه في الدنيا وطالبها
رأىhe saw اجتماعاًa gathering عليهاaround it ظنَّهُhe thought it عُرُساa wedding
رأى اجتماعاً عليها ظنَّهُ عُرُسا
May God not bless this world, nor whoever seeks her:
May God bless neither the world nor its seeker.
he saw a gathering around her and mistook it for a wedding feast.
He saw a gathering around it and thought it a wedding.
فَريسةٌprey يتغذّىfeeds الوَحشُthe beast منتعشاًinvigorated
فَريسةٌ يتغذّى الوَحشُ منتعشاً
فيهاin it علىat حينِa time منّاfrom us تقطعُit cuts off النَفَساthe breath
فيها على حينِ منّا تقطعُ النَفَسا
She is prey on which the wild beast feeds, invigorated;
It is prey; the beast feeds, invigorated,
therein, at some moment, she cuts off the life-breath of one of us.
Within it, while it cuts off our breath.
