بعثتُI sent لكمto you مَوهوَimagined likeness (unclear word form) شَخصيmy person ممثّلاًportrayed
بعثتُ لكم مَوهوَ شَخصي ممثّلاً
وَشخصكمُand your figure فيin مُقلتيmy eye ظلَّremained بالوهمِin imagination
وَشخصكمُ في مُقلتي ظلَّ بالوهمِ
I sent you an imagined likeness of myself, portrayed.
I sent you my personal fantasy as a representative
And your figure remained in my eye in imagination.
While your personality lingered fancifully in my imagination
لعليperhaps I منfrom الوهمينthe two illusions اجنيreap حقيقةًa reality
لعلي من الوهمين اجني حقيقةً
فَرسماًthus an image تَرىsees ذاتيmy self وَذاتاًand a self يرىsees رَسميmy image
فَرسماً تَرى ذاتي وَذاتاً يرى رَسمي
Perhaps from the two illusions I may reap a reality.
Perhaps from these two fantasies I may extract a reality
Thus my self sees an image, and my image sees a self.
So a painting sees my essence and an essence sees my painting
