ضَريحٌ قد ثواهُ كريم قومٍ

دفنّا منهُ تحت الترب درَّه

A tomb where a nobleman of his people has come to rest;

A tomb which covers a generous man of a people

We buried a pearl from among them beneath the dust—

We buried beneath the soil his pearls

من الوجهاء ارباب المعالي

من الوجهاء ارباب المعالي

واهل الفضل فيهم والمبرَّه

واهل الفضل فيهم والمبرَّه

One of the notables, masters of lofty distinction,

Of the eminent, lords of glory

And of the men among them of virtue and benevolence.

And people of merit among them and purity

تخيَّرهُ الآلهُ لاوج مجدٍ

تخيَّرهُ الآلهُ لاوج مجدٍ

تلألأ بالتَهاني والمسرَّه

تلألأ بالتَهاني والمسرَّه

God chose him for a pinnacle of glory

God chose him for the highest glory

That sparkled with felicitations and joy,

It shone with felicitations and joy

وَضاءَ مؤَرَّخاً بأَجلِّ نورٍ

وَضاءَ مؤَرَّخاً بأَجلِّ نورٍ

بدا فيهِ لحبرائيل غُرَّه

بدا فيهِ لحبرائيل غُرَّه

And shone, its date recorded, with the most exalted light;

And illuminated as the most noble light

Within it appeared Habra'il's radiant brow.

In it the ink of Gabriel flowed
