    A fastidious man—nothing pleases him,

So much so that he always appears displeased.

    He knows no pleasures whatsoever,

For he delights in nothing he has found.

And everyone with [work?] fears him,

For he does not satisfy him, even if he exhausts himself.

And you see him fearing people as critics

Of his deeds, since he is always finding fault.

Does his own self satisfy him? How strange!

Or does this judgment hold without exception?

    Whoever finds no one pleasing,

I think, pleases no one himself.
