What I feared from you has struck my heart.
And that is only because it does not desist.

And an eye, like a spring of water from so much weeping—
Its sleep is seen, in longing, watching alongside the tears.

ولوand if كانَwere صَبرِيmy patience مثلَlike شَوقيmy longing تقاوماthey would counterbalance each other
ولكنَّand yet شَوقيmy longing منthan عزائيَmy fortitude أكبرُgreater
And were my patience equal to my longing, they would counterbalance each other;
Yet my longing is greater than my fortitude.
