They said, 'You fell in love with a tenderly reared gazelle,

A moon at its fullness, and a tender bough.'

So I said, 'How could the heart be restrained,

When those eyes have made him master of hearts?'

And one sorrowful at heart, with weeping eyes,

Has gained, through remembrance, a responsive heart.

As though the slumber of his eyes had flowed

With the tears, consoling forlorn tears.
