وأنتَ مولىً بخيلُ

The ailing heart complains,

The aching heart complains

while you are a miserly lord.

Though you, its master, are stingy

أينَ التذكرُ عنه

أينَ التذكرُ عنه

إذاً وأينَ العليلُ

Where is remembrance of him,

Where is the remembrance of it

then—and where is the ailing one?

And so where is the ailing one

كثيرُ ما بي مما

كثيرُ ما بي مما

ألقاهُ فيكَ قليلُ

ألقاهُ فيكَ قليلُ

My great suffering, beside what

Much of what I find in me

I endure on your account, is little.

That little I entrusted in you

أستودعُ اللَهُ قلباً

أستودعُ اللَهُ قلباً

يحبُّ من لا ينيلُ

يحبُّ من لا ينيلُ

I entrust to God a heart

I commend to God a heart

that loves one who grants nothing.

That loves one it cannot attain
