One who has not slept knows the length of the night—

one who exhausts his tears and weeps blood.

Nothing remained in his two garments but love,

in a worn-out body, long afflicted by illness.

He has a beloved who sought to treat him fairly,

but pride would not leave him until he did wrong.

And he strove to hide what was within him,

but his tear revealed what he had concealed.
