    O you who have seen my soul devoted to you,

    And seen my tongue occupied with remembering you,

    تشفي من القلب الكئيبِ عليلا

    Look upon me with mercy and compassion;

    You would heal a sorrowful, ailing heart.

    So, by the beauty of your face and by Him who created love,

    It would do you no harm to grant love's union.

    O master who, if he wished, would free his slave,

    May my soul be your ransom, master and beloved.
