الشوقُlonging أكبرُgreater منthan أنthat لاnot أرىI am seen دَنِفاlovesick
والهجرُand separation أوجعُmore painful منthan أنthat لاnot أرىI am seen أسِفاgrief-stricken
Longing is too great for me not to appear lovesick;
Longing is too great for me not to see a house,
And separation too painful for me not to appear grief-stricken.
And separation is more painful than not to see a family.
دلَّled العذولَthe reproacher علىto ماwhat بيafflicts me وأظهرَهُand revealed it
دمعٌtears إذاwhen أسلمتهُreleased it مقلتيmy eye وكفاflowed
The reproacher was shown what ails me, and it was laid bare
My tears have revealed what is inside me,
By tears that flowed when my eye released them.
When I surrender them to my eyelids and palm.
ياO سالبstealer of القلبِthe heart إنindeed الشوقَlonging أورثنيhas brought me
سُقماًsickness وحسبكَand enough for you إذnow that أصبحتُI have become معترِفاone who confesses
O stealer of the heart, longing has indeed brought me
O you who have taken my heart, longing has caused me
Sickness—and let that suffice you, now that I confess.
Illness, and it is enough for you that I have confessed.
ياO أعظمَgreatest الناسthe people عندَin the estimation of القلبِthe heart منزلةًin rank
احفَظhonor لقلبيfor my heart وصرفيand my expenditure فيكon you ماwhat سَلفاhas gone before
O you, highest of all people in the heart's esteem,
O you who have the greatest place in my heart,
Honor what has gone before, for my heart and all I have spent on you.
Preserve my heart for me and direct what is past towards you.
