When unceasing sickness wastes me away,

I stay awake, O you whose eyes sleep.

May your eyes never lose sleep, O you who wrong me,

Yet he does not know that he is unjust.

Indeed, by a gaze whose languor has laid me low,

And by what the tender body holds,

The heart has not lost love's burning thirst,

Nor has any censurer ceased reproaching it.
