If only it were something other than my tears for him, since I wrote with them

Upon my heart—and tears are what have run dry.

Longing never comes to an end, pouring from my eye

Through the tear ducts, save to return no more.

Indeed, I pity an eye that will not spare me

From weeping, and a heart aching with grief.

O path of tears from my heart to my sight,

Send my tears back; let no one gloat over us.
