If my eyelid is bereft of sleep, it weeps.

And often I have startled his gaze, so he complained.

O fair of face, this is not fair.

Was it lawful for you to inflict all this suffering on me?

I have become a slave to the one I adore.

How, then, could the master pity one he owns?

O heart, be patient, and do not increase my anguish.

Passion will surely join you to those who have perished.
