محلَّ مستوطنٍ مُقيمِ
He settled in the heart’s innermost core,
It settled in the heart's core
As a settled resident, there to stay,
As though 'twere its abiding home.

بالسقمِ من لحظهِ السقيمِ
Where it suffered from the arrow of his eye,
There where its dart of glance complained,
Sickened by his languishing glance.

دقّ عن الحسنِ والنسيمِ
He who dwelt in beauty, without [unclear], until
Who can be fair, and yet not even
He grew subtler than beauty and the breeze.
For fairness' sake draw nigh?

Thou mayst discern amid his cheek's
And his face the radiance of bliss.
Pure dye the light of Paradise.
