He counted my longing for him as a sin against him.

Had I been certain, I would have apologized to him.

Did I sin, or did the languor in his eyelids

beckon my eye toward his eyes?

His eye sinned, and my eye did wrong

to a heart that became the captive of his hands.

O you who blame me for him, come to your senses!

I am his slave, and an endowment dedicated to him.
