Gravely ill at heart, ailing in body,

His eyes have not tasted the flavor of slumber.

His eyelids have grown accustomed to tears, just as

his entrails have grown accustomed to sorrow.

O reproacher, do not reproach me.

You blamed me for loving one who forsakes me.

I do not see him, and so I appear dejected,

and he is glad if he does not see me.
