واللهand by God ماnot اتصلتbecame bound نفسيmy soul بحسرتهاto its sorrow
حتىuntil رمتstruck مقلتيmy pupil عينيmy eye بنظرتهاwith its glance
By God, my soul was not bound to its sorrow
I had barely connected my soul to her longing
Until my pupil struck my eye with its glance.
When my eyelids cast their gaze upon her
لمdid not يثنهاdeter it حذرٌcaution عنfrom لحظِgazing at ذيone endowed with غنجٍcoquetry
بهthrough him أدامsustained هواهاits passion فيضَthe flow of عبرتِهاits tears
No caution deterred it from gazing at one endowed with coquetry;
Caution did not prevent her from a tender glance
Through him, its passion sustained the flow of its tears.
Through which she perpetuated her passion and tears' outpouring

O you who are beauty itself, yet made of marvels,
O you who are beauty incarnate
Smitten with their splendor, glorying in their bloom.
Dawn with its splendor and bloom with its freshness

Indeed I—by what a lover’s soul adores—
Indeed, I - though I have not burdened the lover's soul -
Fear for my liver from its prolonged sighing.
Fear for my innermost being from her long sighs
