ومستترُ الضياء محج

ومستترُ الضياء محج

جبٌ عن أعينِ البشَرِ

جبٌ عن أعينِ البشَرِ

And one whose radiance is hidden, veil-

The light, though hidden, is resplendent

-ed from human eyes.

A mountain veiled from human eyes

كأنكَ منهُ حينَ ترا

كأنكَ منهُ حينَ ترا

هُ بينَ الشمسِ والقَمَرِ

هُ بينَ الشمسِ والقَمَرِ

It is as though, because of him, when you see

When I behold it, it appears

him, you are between the sun and the moon.

Amid the sun and moon to rise

أحبُّ إليَّ من قلبي

أحبُّ إليَّ من قلبي

ومن سمعي ومن بصري

ومن سمعي ومن بصري

Dearer to me than my heart,

More dear to me than my own heart

and than my hearing, and than my sight.

Or hearing, vision, it imparts

أملكُ حبهُ نفسي

أملكُ حبهُ نفسي

وأرضى منهُ بالنظرِ

وأرضى منهُ بالنظرِ

I give his love mastery over my soul,

My soul doth hold it with delight

and am content with looking at him.

Content with only sight of it
