And one of jewel-like form, endowed with coy charm,

    Joined to beauty, peerless.

Description cannot reach the essence of his form:

A light that rose, then came to dwell in a body.

No sight—no way for him toward beauty—

His gaze escaped through it toward anyone. [Lines 5–6 are unclear as supplied.]

If an eye sought in him anything but its proof

Against the reproachers, it would find none.
