ولامسَهُ قلبي فآلمَ كفَّهُ

ولامسَهُ قلبي فآلمَ كفَّهُ

فمِن لَمسِ قلبي في أنامِلهِ عقرُ

فمِن لَمسِ قلبي في أنامِلهِ عقرُ

And my heart touched him, making his palm ache;

My heart touched his hand thus hurting his palm

so his fingertips bear a wound from my heart’s touch.

From my heart's touch within his fingers lies harm

وَمرَّ بِفكرِي خاطِراً فَجرحتُهُ

وَمرَّ بِفكرِي خاطِراً فَجرحتُهُ

وَلم أرَ خلقاً قطُّ يجرحُهُ الفِكرُ

وَلم أرَ خلقاً قطُّ يجرحُهُ الفِكرُ

And he crossed my mind as a passing thought, so I wounded him;

A thought passed through my mind so I hurt it

and never have I seen a creature whom thought wounds.

Never have I seen one's thoughts cause them damage or conflict
