Able to keep me from being sorrowful—

A remedy and a malady that both caused sickness—and a physician.

Protect the heart of one who loves you from the heat of a sigh,

With which long separation struck it, so that it might melt.

And it let droop eyelids that had died from sleep’s neglect,

They renew blood that never ceases to be strange.

So be as I desire, even if you are miserly,

Perhaps my recovery will be near.
