The cure for the drunken, wine-addled man's ailment
The cure for the drunkard's thirst
Is sipping cold, chilled nectar,
Is a draught of fermented date wine
رَقَّgrew fine and delicate كَدَمْعِlike the tears of العاشِقِthe lover المهجُورِthe forsaken
فيin قَعْرِthe bottom of كيزانٍcups منof الصُّخُورِrock
Fine as the forsaken lover's tears,
Soft as the tear of a forsaken lover
In the depths of cups made of rock.
At the bottom of a crystal chalice
يدفَعُit sends forth قضباناًrods منof البَلُّورِcrystal
فيin نفسٍa breath مِثْلِlike جَنَىthe harvested yield of الكَافُورِcamphor
It sends forth rods of crystal
Pushing away icicles of quartz
In a breath like the yield of camphor.
Into a soul like a grove of camphor trees
